I awoke with the sounds of a Hooter Bear prowling in the kitchen. It seems that Daddy didn't lock the door at the end of the hallway. So, I found Hoot playing in the bubbly water in the dirty crockpot that I left soaking overnight. Before I can get his hands washed the phone started ringing.
My parents went to Abilene yesterday for my sister's birthday. Great. I thought that got them out of the path of Ike (they live in DeWitt county, which was partially evacuated yesterday) and I wouldn't have to worry about them. Apparently, my sister has rats. And I don't mean the cute Japanese Hooded variety I used to keep in a cage. My mom was sorely disappointed in her granddogs. A border collie and a cow dog can't keep that under control? So, that freaked them out. Then, they've been on a steady diet of Hurricane TV and that has my dad flaired up. He does so well on his medication, but stress totally brings out the worst of his Lewy Bodies demetia and his Parkinsons shaking.
So, what are they doing? They are leaving Abilene. *sigh* Are they coming here? Well, I wish they would. That way they aren't alone in the middle of nowhere. However, they are more likely to be in the thick of it here that they would be at home. But, they aren't sure they can get home. So, they may be coming here. Right now, they are headed out of Abilene and when they get to Temple they will make the decision. I'm glad they weren't going through San Antonio. Who knows, they may be here before dark anyway. We'll just have to see.
I still hope that we are able to leave for DFW on Saturday. With that sucker hooking north, there may be a chance. However, if the storm looks like it will be safer to travel in the wee hours of Sunday morning, we will do that. All I know is that I need to keep doing what I need to do to get ready to go to Florida. It would take major house damage to cancel the trip and if we can get there, we will be there!
